Deferred Action

Omaha, Nebraska Immigration Lawyer

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA is a new program initiated in the summer of 2012 by the Obama administration. This immigration program provides benefits to those “Dreamers” who were brought to the United States during their adolescence. The benefits of this program include a work permit allowing the applicant to work legally in the United States and providing them the opportunity to continue studying at a University or college after graduation.

To qualify for this program, the applicant must have:

  • entered in the United States before July of 2007
  • been under the age of sixteen (16) years old at the time of entry
  • been less than thirty-one (31) years of age on July of 2012
  • and have less than three (3) misdemeanor crimes on their record (excluding minor traffic violations)

*Furthermore, the applicant must be currently registered in classes or have graduated from High school. If the applicant has not yet completed High school they are still eligible if they enroll in a GED program.

Immigration reform is still being addressed. If you would like to provide us your information, we will be happy to update you on developments that may interest you. Click here to access our form.
